Description

Each episode features an original arts/music set that explores truth through creativity, and a thought-provoking presentation.

We live in a world of relentless ambiguity, relativism, and contradiction. This complex world that we’re meant to understand is clouded and coloured, almost beyond our comprehension by: a) social, cultural, and economic injustice, b) corruption and hypocrisy in government, business, and organized religion, c) ideological polarization and extremism, d) rampant consumerism, e) existential fatalism, as well as f) fear and apathy.

We have become cynical and often superficial, even though our deepest instincts still motivate us to reflect and wonder if there is a path beyond the cynicism and superficiality. We wonder if there is deeper information or higher knowledge that would help illuminate this path and point the way to some understanding; even to some answers. We wonder if there are others like us; others who are wondering as well.

“The Question” is a new, disruptive community that seeks to provide an organic gathering place for those who wonder about our complex selves, our complex world, our complex universe. The new community is completely non-religious and inclusive. The goals of the community are: a) to re-kindle the ancient traditions of exploring truth through diverse, thoughtful dialogue and response, b) to offer a creative and welcoming atmosphere that encourages questions and honours the “questioners”, c) to provoke thought, discussion, and inquiry across the wide spectrum of life and beyond, and d) to create and nurture a growing community of authentic thinkers and explorers.

Unless we’re physicians or psychologists, we don’t often engage or fully understand the monumental connected reality of genetics, matter, energy, structure and relationship that enable us to be born and simply exist. The word “symmetry” leads to questions about meaning, like when we encounter words like “democracy” or “love”. The word symmetry basically means “agreement in dimensions, proportions, and arrangement”. Things that strike us as being symmetrical definitely seem to fit this criteria. We assume that measuring the dimensions, proportions, and the arrangement of something will determine […] The post TQP 027: The Message of Symmetry Part II appeared first on The Question.
We live in a complicated world. We live complicated lives within a complicated human landscape. Our complicated lives are made more complicated by the complicated biological, ecological, zoological, psychological, socio-economical, political, technological, and cosmological realities we interact with every day. “Interact” may be too kind of a word to use in many of these cases. […] The post TQP 026: The Message of Symmetry Part I appeared first on The Question.
After a time, he allowed the students to exist the bus, still blindfolded, he asked the group to make their best guess for the direction of the university campus, and point their fingers in that direction. Surprisingly, a significant number of the students pointed in the correct direction. He replicated the experiment the very next […] The post TQP 025: What Guides Your Compass Part II appeared first on The Question.
The compass is a simple ancient device made of natural magnetic material, mounted in free suspension, to interact with the awesome power of the earth’s electromagnetic field. Whether it’s a fourth century Chinese lodestone compass or a modern-day magnetometer, the principles of the compass are universal, enduring, and deeply philosophical. The compass represents, to us, […] The post TQP 024: What Guides Your Compass Part I appeared first on The Question.
A denotation is the objective, largely agreed-upon meaning of a word that can be found in the dictionary, while a connotation is the subjective, personal meaning of a word. But paradoxically, neither are necessarily correct or incorrect. Denotation: If you’re a Scrabble or Boggle player, there’s a good chance you’ve called someone out on making […] The post TQP 023: Words – Beacons of Creative Power or Mere Devices of Communication Part II appeared first on The Question.
Who are you – butterfly or tornado? Albert Einstein is the father of modern theoretical physics – master of light and gravity, splitter of atoms, bender of space… Generations have been influenced and altered by the overwhelming power of his scientific discoveries. Einstein was inarguably a force of nature – a tornado. Steve Jobs was […] The post TQP 022: Butterfly or Tornado? Part II appeared first on The Question.
Who are you – butterfly or tornado? In 1963, Edward Lorenz was a meteorologist, a mathematician, and a recognized father of Chaos Theory. The scientific definition of “chaos” is when the present determines the future, but the approximate present does not approximately determine the future. Chaos Theory, which was of Lorenz’ invention, seeks to articulate […] The post TQP 021: Butterfly or Tornado? Part I appeared first on The Question.
Very soon, 100% of our digital lives will be stored and monitored inside the cloud. Anyone that has an iPhone is probably using or very tentatively using the fingerprint ID feature on the phone. Fingerprint ID technology is perhaps the most familiar biometric utility that we encounter. Apple has promised that your fingerprint information is […] The post TQP 020: The Cloud and Our Future Part II appeared first on The Question.
We love our personal technology. We love it in all its forms – desktop, handheld, mountable, wearable, drivable, virtual, and imaginable. General technology is difficult to love. Just like a great cheeseburger is much easier to love than the greedy industrial food complex that made it possible. If general technology means the underlying technological foundations, […] The post TQP 019: The Cloud and Our Future Part I appeared first on The Question.

Dr. Gary Francione, a committed vegan, is considered one of the fathers of the abolitionist theories of animal rights, which basically argues that all sentient or self-aware beings, like animals, share the right to life, with us, and should not be treated as property or product. Other abolitionists believe that all animals, although not persons […] The post TQP 016: Do we really understand Love? III appeared first on The Question.
Why do we try so hard to impose simplicity on such a complex idea? All of the simple if/then formulas for love, no matter how seductive or poetic they are, must be questioned, because love is complexity. What are your own formulas for the meaning of love? Do they appear to be working out? In […] The post TQP 015: Do we really understand Love? II appeared first on The Question.
We are inundated, overwhelmed and irretrievably smitten by thoughts of love. We are made willing and vulnerable to the images, words, and expressions of love in popular media and the day to day culture that surrounds us. Archaeomythology, archeoastronomy, medical archeology, and geomythology have all gradually transformed what was once a one-dimensional wall between science and myth into a multi-dimensional window that allows scientific principles, recorded history, human imagination, and cultural identity to exchange freely between modern and ancient mankind. This free and fearless exchange of the modern and the ancient in […] The post TQP 010: Science & Myth III appeared first on The Question.
